Kellogg Community College defended its home court Saturday, stifling the Glen Oaks offense in the first half and ending the MCCAA Western Conference contest with a 62-40 women's basketball victory.
The Vikings, hampered by injuries, only managed 12 points in the first half. Kellogg erupted for 21 points in the second quarter alone to take a 35-12 lead into the locker room.
Morgan Kurdziel finished with a team-high 11 points for GOCC (9-15, 1-9) and Lilyana Coleman added nine points. Chelsi Zyla and Kaytlin Smith each recorded six. Coleman and Smith each registered double-digit rebounds with 11 and 10, respectively.
Glen Oaks, which relies heavily on the 3-point shot, struggled from behind the arc, connecting on just 2 of 19 attempts. The Bruins (18-4, 8-1) got 15 points from its bench and shot 32.3 percent from the floor for the game.
Kaylee Gliddon led the Bruins with 17 points, which included an 8-for-10 effort from the foul line.
The Vikings have three regular season games remaining and host non-conference foe Grace Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
