GOCC completes Ancilla sweep
Vikings earn two road wins.
Glen Oaks softball earned a home sweep Saturday against Marian University's Ancilla College. The Vikings took a competitive first game 3-1, then routed the Chargers 23-0 in game two. GOCC is now 4-0 on the season against Ancilla.
In the first game, Glen Oaks had one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth. Ancilla's lone run came in the fifth on a solo home run. Aimee Reinhardt pitched a complete game victory with 10 strikeouts, six hits allowed, one earned run, and one walk.
Brianna Wiley had two of the four Viking hits and one run. Sierra Carpenter and Melina Rogotzy both had a hit and a run.
In the game two mauling, Glen Oaks scored nine in the first inning, two in the second, seven in the third, and fourth in the fourth. Sage Pruett had a home run, a double, two singles, four RBI, and three runs. Aubrey Mealor had a homer and two singles, bringing in five and scoring twice.
Wiley and Ava Meija both had a double and a single, two RBI, and three runs scored. Wiley also stole five bases and was hit by a pitch twice. Bella Monsma scored thrice. Charlee Kyle had one hit, two runs, and five RBI. Brady Lesher doubled, singled, and scored twice. Glen Oaks had 15 hits in total.
Dakota Sigler pitched the first inning clean and struck out two. Brenna Meyer then tossed the remaining four scoreless innings with only one hit allowed and five strikeouts.
Glen Oaks is now 18-10 overall and second in the MCCAA Western Conference standings at 13-7. The Vikings play Ancilla twice more on Monday, beginning a stretch of ten straight road games to end the regular season.
