GOCC softball team nabs win over Henry Ford
Vikings wrack up another win in Myrtle Beach.
Glen Oaks softball defeated Henry Ford College 3-2 Thursday, putting the Vikings at 3-3 for the week at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in South Carolina. The Hawks started with the lead, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning. The Vikings tied the game with one run in the top of the fourth, but Henry Ford matched in the bottom half to go up 2-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, GOCC went ahead with two runs and three hits. Jaden Adams started the inning with a single, then got moved to third when Sage Pruett singled. A fielder's choice for Alea Fisher brought Adams home to tie the game. Sierra Carpenter then singled to plate Pruett.
Sierra Smith pitched the first three innings for Glen Oaks with five strikeouts, four hits allowed, one earned run, and three walks. Brenna Meyer tossed the final four innings and got the win, giving up four hits and an unearned run.
Glen Oaks had nine hits to Henry Ford's eight. Carpenter had three hits and two RBI. Pruett scored twice on two hits. Adams had two hits and one run.
The Vikings finish up their stay in South Carolina Friday with two games, including a rematch against Henry Ford.
