Vikings earn two wins
Glen Oaks goes 2-3 over the weekend.
The Glen Oaks softball team traveled to the Aquinas College Tournament Saturday, losing to the host squad, 5-2, before ending the day with a 5-0 win over Mott Community College.
Brady Lesher registered three hits and drove in three runs in the victory against Mott. Sierra Carpenter (double) and Melina Ragotzy each finished with two hits, and Aimee Reinhardt had one. Both Sierra Smith and Aubrey Mealor stole bases for GOCC. Reinhardt collected the win in the circle after tossing four innings of four-hit ball with a pair of strikeouts. Brenna Meyers earned the save with two innings of work with only two hits allowed.
On Sunday, the Vikings were at Indiana Tech. There, Glen Oaks dropped a 6-4 contest to Macomb and then fell, 10-1, to Indiana Tech. The Vikings were able to close out the day with a 6-5 win over Indiana Tech.
Reinhardt tossed three innings in the start against Indiana Tech the second time around, giving up four hits and two runs. She struck out one batter for the win. Ava Mejia finished out the final four innings with two hits and three runs allowed with four strikeouts. Glen Oaks scored four runs in the top of the first innings and made it a 6-0 lead in the fourth. Indiana Tech scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and two in the fifth to make things interesting.
