Viking golfers sixth at MCCAA Championship
Triemstra ties for seventh to make All-MCCAA Team
PLYMOUTH, Ind. — Glen Oaks Community College battled over the course of two rounds at Monday's Michigan Community College Athletic Association men's golf championship at Swan Lake Golf Club, finishing sixth with a team score of 653.
Leading the way for the Vikings was freshman Connor Triemstra, who shot 77-78—155 to tie for seventh overall at 11 over par. Triemstra birdied No. 18 in the opening round and ended the day with 22 pars. His effort earned a spot on the All-MCCAA Team. The top four scores from each team in each round counted toward the final tally.
Grand Rapids won the team title with 598, led by medalist Owen Rosendall's 1-over-par 145.
Graeme Herald carded an 82 in the opening round, which included two birdies, and then shaved two strokes in Round 2 with an 80 and another pair of birdies.
