Vikings in search of National Championship berth
GOCC men's golf team third at NJCAA Region XII Championship with one round to go.
The Glen Oaks Community College men's golf team competed in the first two rounds of the NJCAA Region XII Championship Monday at Battle Creek's Bedford Valley Golf Club and currently sits in third place overall with a total of 647.
Tuesday's final round will decide which three teams advance to next week's NJCAA Division II National Championship. Grand Rapids has a firm grip on the top spot with 633 and Oakland is second with 644. Montcalm, which is ineligible for the postseason, also has a score of 644 but will not factor into the final team standings.
The Vikings' Cole Koenig is second individually after posting rounds of 78-74. His second-round effort of 2-over par was tied for the lowest of the day.
