Vikings tie for third at Glen Oaks Invitational
Pullen leads GOCC with 79 at Island Hills.
On its home turf of Island Hills Golf Club Wednesday, the Glen Oaks Community College men's golf team tied for third overall with Muskegon, shooting a total of 321. Grand Rapids took home the title with 301, paced by a medalist round of 72 by Drew Harrington.
A day after storms rolled through the area, the golfers were greeted by blue skies, very little wind and a course that played slower as it dried out. That led to some aggressive strategies and a number of birdie opportunities. Unfortunately for Glen Oaks, a lot of them wouldn't drop as Grand Rapids and Montcalm (308) pulled away from the field.
It was the last competition of the regular season for the Vikings, who tee it up next in the NJCAA Region XII Tournament Monday at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek with a return trip to the National Championship on the line.
