Viking men's hoopers edge Jackson
Glen Oaks comes out of the holiday break with a thrilling win over the Jets.
Trailing most of the second half Wednesday at Jackson, the Glen Oaks Community College men's basketball team came up with several big shots down the stretch to come away with an 82-81 victory in a return to action following the holidays.
Akin Smith drilled a crucial 3-pointer, Amauri Moore poured it on in crunch time and Jordan Lomax, who ended the night with a team-high 25 points, scored the go-ahead bucket with five seconds remaining to boost the Vikings to an 8-6 overall record.
Moore finished with 23 points, including 15 in the second half, and Smith and Marlon Gaitan each tallied nine points. Darius Styles and Joreim Lomax produced six points apiece and Jaiden Stamps produced four points.

Glen Oaks travels to Lansing Saturday for a 3 p.m. tipoff against the Stars to begin MCCCAA Western Conference play.
