Lake Michigan wins Game 2
Viking baseball team drops second game after winning the opener at LMC.
Glen Oaks baseball concluded the 2024 spring season with a road split Saturday against Lake Michigan College. The Vikings won the first game 5-1, but lost 11-1 in the second contest.
Andrew Onuegbu tossed a complete game victory in the first game, only allowing a single unearned run in the seventh inning. Onuegbu struck out 10 batters while allowing five hits and three walks. He also had a big game at the plate with a double, single, and two runs scored.
The Vikings scored three runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, and one in the seventh. Brayden Clark had two hits and two RBI. Brody Wardenburg and Steven Drewyor both had a hit and a run. Peyton Simmons had a hit and Jayden Hamilton scored.
In Game 2, Glen Oaks was held to only three hits with a solo run in the second inning. LMC scored twice in the first inning, twice more in the second, four times in the third, twice in the fourth, and once in the fifth. The game concluded with the run rule after the fifth inning.
Andrew Thorpe, Clark, and Hamilton each had singles. Drewyor scored the lone Viking run.
Glen Oaks finishes the season at 9-35 overall and fifth in the MCCAA Western Conference standings at 6-19.
