Glen Oaks baseball thumps LMC
Vikings earn 11-2 road win.
Glen Oaks baseball earned a lopsided 11-2 road win Friday in eight innings against conference foe Lake Michigan College. The Vikings outhit the Red Hawks 12-7 on the day and spread out their runs. GOCC scored thrice in the first inning with one run in the third, two in the fifth, two in the seventh, and three in the eighth. LMC's runs came in the fourth and fifth innings.
Andrew Onuegbu was the winning pitcher for Glen Oaks. He struck out four over five innings, allowing five hits, two runs, one earned run, and two walks. Hunter Tinervia pitched 2.2 innings of clean relief and Gavin Wickham recorded the final out.
Daniel Vizthum tripled and singled with three RBI. Erick Marin scored three times with a double and a single. Jayden Hamilton also had two hits and three runs. Andrew Thorpe and Steven Drewyor both scored twice and Brayden Clark scored once.
Cameron Humeston had two hits and the Vikings got one apiece from Drewyor, Thorpe, Brody Wardenburg and Clark. Thorpe had two RBI and drew two walks.
The win puts Glen Oaks baseball at 2-3 in MCCAA Western Conference play and 5-19 overall. The Vikings return to action for a home doubleheader on Thursday against Marian University's Ancilla College.
