Vincennes baseball claims win over Vikings
Glen Oaks puts up 14 runs in the loss.
Glen Oaks baseball had a roller coaster 17-14 loss against Vincennes University Saturday in the third game of their four game weekend event. The Vikings started ahead with three runs in the top of the first inning. The Trailblazers scored once in the bottom half, then jumped ahead with five in the bottom of the second inning.
The top of the third inning had GOCC get two back, but Vincennes pulled away on a seven run explosion in the bottom half. The score stayed at 13-5 until the Vikings started an impressive comeback. In the top of the fifth inning, Glen Oaks plated seven to make it a one run ballgame.
The Vikings then reclaimed the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. However, Vincennes added four in the bottom half and held that 17-14 score in the seventh to escape with the win. The Trailblazers had 13 hits to the Vikings' eight.
Steven Drewyor had three hits, two runs, two walks, and one RBI for the Glen Oaks offense. Brayden Clark scored thrice with a triple, single, and walk. Andrew Onuegbu had three RBI, two runs, one hit, and two walks drawn. Jayden Hamilton had three runs, one hit, and two walks. Erick Marin scored twice and had two RBI with one hit. Cameron Humeston and Andrew Thorpe each had one run and one RBI.
Glen Oaks drops to 1-13 with the loss and has one more game left in Vincennes on Sunday against Lincoln Trail.
